Dedicated to the memory of Earl Karjohn

This site is dedicated to the memory of Earl Karjohn, a wonderful, kind, gentle, happy, funny, positive and selfless family man, who loved and lived life to the full.

These attributes helped him face with great stoicism the challenges of living with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy (a progressive neurological disorder) over the last ten years. Earl did not let this disease define him, but instead he focused on what he could do, and in doing so, created lots more happy memories along the way.

With the support of Earl’s loving family, friends, Alina Homecare, Blue Angel Care, St Michael’s Hospice, PSPA and the NHS, he enjoyed his time at home, going for walks, watching Man United and listening to audio books and all genres of music (he was a part-time DJ in his younger years).

Earl was extremely competitive throughout his life, and this was evidenced when playing football, chess, cards, boules or any game for that matter! He often organised parties, BBQs, outdoor competitions and fell walking weekends in the Lake District etc. He was such a sociable animal!

Earl had a great life and loved his holidays in Italy, Spain, the U.S and at our villa in Portugal. It was so lovely and fitting that his last holiday was in August 2023, when we were able to renew our marriage vows on a Mediterranean cruise to celebrate our 25th Wedding Anniversary with family and friends.

I would be grateful and deeply comforted if you would share your memories and photos of Earl on this site. Also, to donate, no matter how small to the amazing charities, St Michael’s Hospice and PSPA who supported Earl and I throughout the difficult journey with PSP.

Thank you, love and best wishes, Dawn xx

Dearest Earl - every memory with you brings a smile. If fun had a face it would be yours, but you were so much more than that...Every trip out was an adventure, every opportunity to be kind you took, every single day you showed how much you cared for your family and those lucky enough to be your friends. You live forever in so many of our favourite memories - fabulous holidays - both grown up and with the boys, posh dinners out, Christmas and New Years Eve's spent together, work trips and, of course, afternoons in your garden and nights at the pub. Our lives were made infinitely better by having you in it. Rest easy our wonderful friend. Steve, Veronica, Richard, Jim and Becky xxxxx

Dear Earl, I remember you best working with you in my Eli Lilly days, and playing 5 aside football with you and against you. You were a terrific sportman and friend. Your positive qualities were many, including a sympathetic ear, and to this day I appreciate your support & kind advice during a difficult time in my life. RIP good buddy!
